2018 has raced on through, and as we approach the end of summer, it’s time to start thinking about the holidays! As you arrange your retirement plans and really begin to settle into your new life, don’t forget to enjoy the small things. 1. Halloween Events
Minnesota has plenty of exciting, and child-friendly events for Halloween to take the grandkids along to!
Shafer Corn Maze
The Shafer Corn Maze takes place in Shafer, Minnesota every weekend from early September all the way until late October, allowing plenty of time to take the family over. Dive into two corn mazes offered- one for those who love the challenge, and one to explore with the kiddos. As the only of corn maze in MN, it has been transformed into intricate designs to create a gigantic maze!
Once you’ve made your way through the mazes, take the grandkids to visit the petting zoo, participate in the corn bag toss, or take the challenge in the Straw Bale Obstacle Course. That’s not the least of it! This event offers more than one might think, so put it down on the retirement bucket list for this upcoming Halloween.
The Great Pumpkin Fest
This festival offers more than just it’s Great Pumpkins! Drive on down any weekend to Shakopee, Minnesota, between mid- September and late-October. Truly the ultimate family Halloween fest, boasting Snoopy and the Peanuts during the day, and their adventures. Be sure to check out the Pumpkin Parade, visit Trick or Treat Street to get some goodies, and listen to the witch tell her story. Grab the family- this is one you don’t want to miss during your retirement!
2. Thanksgiving Events
There are plenty of marvelous events around the popular American holiday of Thanksgiving. From Marathons to festivals, Minnesota has a great deal of options for your holiday indulgence.
Lifetime Turkey Day 5k
Among the most popular of events in Minneapolis is the Turkey Day 5k Marathon! Whether you choose to participate and gear up for your run, or watch and support from the side lines! Enjoy the event booths, prizes, and even turkey bowling and some hot cocoa. Stick around for some Black Friday shopping at the Mall of America, where the Holiday Music Festival will keep you entertained during your unequivocal shopping!
3. Christmas Events
While there are unlimited Christmas events to visit while you enter retirement this holiday season, there are a few that stand out every year!
Without question, the most popular Christmas event in Minnesota during this time of year. Though is has been recently changing locations, you will always find this event in Minnesota somewhere from late November to late December! A fantastic event to bring the family to (or not take them, so you can get some Christmas shopping done for them?). Between a visit with Santa Claus, to fireworks at night, movie nights outside, and so much more. Dress warm and get into the holiday spirit as you ease into retirement!
Winter Light at the Arboretum
Perhaps one of the most beautiful scenes available during the holidays in Minnesota. Stroll through a large scale animated light event while you sip on your favorite wine. It’s also the perfect place to get some delightful gifts and trinkets for your loved ones at the Arboretum gift & garden shop. An amazing, relaxing event to kick start your retirement in Minnesota!
